About the SFAMA Collegiate Excellence Awards

Each year the SFAMA recognizes three students for outstanding contributions to the evaluation of the Excellence in Marketing Award nominees.

Students from the four SFAMA collegiate chapters-- Golden Gate University (GGU), San Francisco State Universality (SFSU), St. Mary’s College, and the University of San Francisco (USF) -- may apply to participate.

Submission Guidelines
Selected students are assigned one of the EIMA finalist companies and prepare a report evaluating the company’s nomination.

Research guidelines are provided during a required orientation. All entries will be limited to five pages of double-spaced, essay-style research papers. Participating students may use any public source available for the research paper. All submissions must include an interview, via phone or in-person, with at least one representative of the nominated company.

Entry Evaluation
Entries will be judged by 20 bay area business and marketing professionals including the SFAMA Board of Directors. Awards will be based on the quality of the analysis, not whether or not the nominated company is an EIMA winner.

Presenting the Collegiate Excellence Awards
Awards will be presented at the EIMA Celebration, which student winners may attend at no charge. Students do not need to be present to receive the award. All entrants will be recognized in the EIMA revolving presentation during the event dinner, on the SFAMA Web site, and the SFAMA newsletter.

Awards are as follows:

  • Best Research Paper(1)
  • Runners-Up (2)
