Bios:

Lynn Upshaw
Author, "Truth: The New Rules of Marketing in a Skeptical World."
Principal, Upshaw Marketing; MBA Faculty, Haas School of Business, UC-Berkeley

Lynn Upshaw is principal of Upshaw Marketing, a widely recognized authority on brand marketing, and a member of the MBA faculty at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. He is also Leadership Project Director at the UC-Berkeley Center for Executive Development.

In his consulting, Lynn Upshaw helps clients build marketing plans and strategic brand platforms, counsels managers and senior executives on building comprehensive marketing programs, leads marketing training, and conducts strategic planning workshops for organizations across a wide breadth of industries. His corporate clients have included (abridged list): Visa International, SBC Communications (now AT&T), 3Com Corp., Wind River Systems, WellPoint Health Networks, R.H. Donnelley, Bayer Corporation, DTS Digital Cinema, Inc., NEC Corporation, and esurance.com, among many others.

In his teaching, Lynn has guided hundreds of MBA candidates and corporate executives through the intricacies of corporate and product/service brand building. He consistently ranks among the highest rated instructors, and was a recipient of the prestigious Earl F. Cheit award for teaching excellence.

Debbie Cantu
VP, Brand Marketing and Advertising
Kaiser Permanente

Debbie Cantu joined Kaiser Permanente in 2000 as national Internet director where she managed and produced the content for the health care system’s public website, kaiserpermanente.org. Following that launch of the new kaiserpermanente.org, beginning in July 2003, Cantu directs the marketing -- online and offline -- for the website. In addition, as Vice President of Brand Marketing and Advertising, she oversees brand management and positioning, marketing and advertising, including KP’s “thrive” campaign.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in late 2000, Cantu was senior vice president of public relations and new media for Solem & Associates in San Francisco, preceded by nine years as director of corporate communications and marketing for Catholic Healthcare West, also in San Francisco.

Cantu is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned a B.A. degree in communications. She is the recipient of gold and silver e-Healthcare World awards and an "Outstanding Website" Web Award from the Web Marketing Associations. In addition, she was nominated for an Emmy award for "Living Well: A Woman’s Guide to a Healthy Heart," co-produced by KPIX, San Francisco’s CBS affiliate. Her leadership of Kaiser Permanente’s “thrive” campaign has resulted in several award recognitions for outstanding advertising including a Mobius Award and several Addy Awards.

Michael Oiknine
Acxiom Digital/co-founder Kefta

Michael has extensive project management and commercial experience, depth of knowledge in the Internet and Information Systems, and entrepreneurial strengths in acquisition and turnaround. Prior to joining Acxiom Digital, Michael was the President of GiSMo, an Internet payment start-up, and a consultant with Altis, an IT consulting firm now owned by Ernst & Young.

Michael holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Master's of Engineering from École Centrale de Lyon, France.
