Special Event: Super Bowl XLII - Buzz or Bust

It has become an annual SFAMA tradition.  Each year, our crack panel of advertising and marketing experts explores what $2.7 million, 30-second spots made an impact on our national psyche.  We’ll look at the good, the bad and the ridiculously overpriced… and decide whether you can capitalize on any of the marketing trends to come out of this year’s Super Bowl ad blitz.

Bob Duncan
Executive Creative Director, Partner
Duncan/Channon

Before co-founding Duncan/Channon 17 years ago, Duncan served almost five years as a VP and creative director at FCB/Direct. At Duncan/Channon, he has served as CD and sometimes as writer on Hard Rock, Clos du Bois, Ruffino, Working Assets, the United States Postal Service and Heavenly, among other illustrious clients. Before that, Bob had a long career in journalism, including ten years writing about rock ‘n’ roll in such magazines as Rolling Stone, Life, and Creem, for which he was managing editor, and in several books, including The Noise (published by Houghton Mifflin). As a rock critic, he has interviewed: Bruce Springsteen, Freddie Mercury, Patti Smith, Ted Nugent, War, ZZ Top, Kraftwerk, and others he can’t remember. He has flown on a private jet with Keith Richards, jammed with Blue Oyster Cult, sung to Sammy Hagar (accapella) and Liza Minnelli, but not at the same time. He is married to the former rock photographer Roni Hoffman and father of two. Born in Sheboygan(!), he moved to New York as a kid, but has lived in San Francisco, where (conveniently enough) Duncan/Channon is headquartered, for more than 20 years. He doesn’t know shit about football.
